Valiant Entertainment relaunched the Valiant Universe of comic books in 2012.

Valiant characters first appeared in comics during the 1990s, however,
the new Valiant Universe does not require familiarity with the original.
The details of characters and events for the new Valiant Universe may be significantly
different, but Valiant Entertainment uses many core concepts of the original.

NOTATIONS:
1: indicates the first full comic book appearance for a character
1(brief): indicates a brief first appearance, usually a single page or single panel
1(full): is the same as 1:, but occurs after 1(brief):

Several Valiant Entertainment publications include preview pages for upcoming comics.
These previews usually pre-date the comic release, but are not generally considered
as first appearances because they are serving a marketing/advertisement purpose,
rather than containing the characters within the regular story pages of the comic.

If collectors considered the preview pages as first appearances, it could become
very difficult to identify preview first appearances when the same preview pages
are often included in multiple different titles within the same month.

The 2012+ Valiant comics are printed with multiple variants for each issue listed above,
making these first appearances in the new Valiant universe a "tie" between several
versions of the same issue.
