Valiant also published commercial promotional items for several companies.
Featured here are the only I know of, one for KFC, one for
Spaghettios, and two for Nintendo Power.

In 1991 Valiant produced two eight page comics for Nintendo Power magazine.
The first comic shows the origin of the Battletoads, while the second comic consists of
1-2 page stand alone segments.
The creators are uncredited.

Copyrighted 1992 and printed on newsprint quality paper, this comic was produced for KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken)
stores as an in-store childrens item. While the image shown above is in Spanish, I have been informed that
an English version does exist. Like the other comic in this section, no credits are given to the artists or
writers within the book itself. Heres what artist Ron Zalme had to say about this comic and his involvement
with Valiant in general:
I penciled it (which included designing the characters from the writers description). It was just a
"one-timer", though it was hoped it would lead to more work with KFC.
There was always the possibility that it could become a major national
promotion or company mascot. I believe, but I'm not certain, that either
Kenny Lopez or Jose Albelo did the lettering and it was colored in house
(possibly by Kenny Lopez or Janet Jackson). I can't remember who inked it
(again, quite possibly Kenny).
I was the Asst. Production Manager for Marvel Comics from '78 - '85...
pretty much the entire time that Jim Shooter was the Editor-in-Chief. We
worked well together and became "business" type friends... You know, the
kind that would joke around and talk about stuff at work, but we didn't
really pal around after hours much. In the meantime, I was also a freelance
cartoonist and I did freelance assignments for Marvel and other clients
(Scholastic, CTW, King Features) in the evenings. Well, after I left Marvel
to go entirely freelance, Jim left shortly thereafter and co-founded
Valiant. At first, they were just publishing reprints of Western's comics,
but when they started doing original material, Jim contacted me and I was
delighted to visit, see the operation, meet a whole new team of creative
people (though some were past associates from Marvel) and to begin doing
occasional artwork for them.
That's about it... I'm sure there would have been a longer association,
had Jim remained in control of Valiant. As it happened, I did get the
opportunity to work with Jim later in '94, when I became the Production
Director for his next publishing venture, Defiant. I held that position for
ten months until the company went bust... and that was the last time I
worked on staff. I still correspond with Jim by email occasionally ... and
I did some spot illos for a project he was working on last summer.
